Hi HN,

I’m Billy, co-founder of ChatterBooth. It’s an anonymous app where people can talk or chat freely without judgment.

The idea came in 2020 when one of my co-founders wanted to share about his mom’s cancer recovery but couldn’t. It made us realize how hard it is to open up online. Finally, we released the app earlier this year. We’ve also noticed people venting to AI chatbots just to be heard, but AI doesn’t really get you. ChatterBooth is for real human connection, even if it’s anonymous.

In the future, if there’s enough traction, we want to reward people as Conversation Starters or Accommodating Strangers — small gestures to encourage connection.

We launched on the iOS App Store in 23 countries across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific and have a few hundred downloads so far. It’s still early, still bootstrapped, but it’s been amazing to see real, honest moments happening in the app.

If this kind of thing interests you or you’ve built something similar, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Check out our site and join our Discord if you want to.

Thanks for reading.

The creators launched ChatterBooth, an anonymous app for free chatting, but the community hasn't discussed it yet.

I've tried the app. It's an interesting idea and I appreciate the focus on anonymous, free conversation. The interface is simple and lets you jump into discussions without any friction. One suggestion: it might be helpful to support non-realtime (async) conversations too, since not everyone can stand by in a room all the time. Looking forward to seeing how you handle moderation and keep the community constructive as it grows. Nice work!
