PV simulation

I built an interactive solar panel shade simulator that lets you click on individual solar cells to apply shade and instantly see how it affects power production at the cell, string, and system level.

The goal is to make the often-confusing behavior of shaded solar panels intuitive—especially how string current is limited by the most-shaded cell, and how bypass diodes change the story.

Why I built it

Shading is one of the least intuitive aspects of solar PV design, and most explanations are either too simplistic or too academic. This tool aims to bridge that gap with a hands-on visualization you can play with. Also, I wanted to try how good Lovable really is :)

The author is sharing a tool to visualize the impact of shading on solar panel output, potentially helping users optimize their solar panel installations.
