Show HN: Did I Reply? – Free Gmail Reminders and Templates
didireply.appFrom the website linked: "Is it free? Yes! Free plan includes 5 reminders and 5 templates per month. Premium ($5/month) gives unlimited access."
Which one is it?
The core features (reminders + templates) are included in the free plan.
Free = 5 reminders and 5 templates per month.
Premium ($5/mo) is optional for unlimited usage.
I originally wrote “free forever” meaning there will always be a free tier, but I see how that came across as misleading. I’ll update the wording to be clearer. Appreciate you pointing it out
Mostly because your free tier is 5 of something that you claim is stored on my device. Why even limit something on the user's end device like that? It's so... gross, especially combined with "Free" being in the title and plastered everywhere.
The world has enough of this. Just be honest about what you're offering. If you want money from people to get any useful benefit, just make them pay. Don't lie to me by acting like you're offering something when it's just a ploy to get me to install an extension that artificially limits me to 5 of something on my own machine. It's just ... why? Don't.
To clarify:
The reminders and templates are indeed stored locally in the browser.
I put a limit on the free plan because even though it’s local, I still have to maintain/support the extension and wanted a way to keep it sustainable. That said, I agree with you that calling it “Free” in the title was misleading. It will always have a free plan, but I’ll make sure the copy is upfront about the limits instead of sounding like it’s unlimited.
Thanks for being direct here
But ... your support of the extension seems like it is wholly disconnected with the number of items in use by local storage on devices.
> It will always have a free plan
No one needs this if your free plan is 5. If I only need to remember to follow up on 5 or fewer things, I can use my brain - do you think I'm special? I don't. Your users will also want to have more than 5 reminders set unless they're living in padded rooms in a facility.
I am being direct because you seem to still be missing the point I'm trying to make. But, I will stop because you may have to learn it from the market if you are not seeing the lack of "free" anything you are offering with the current tier.
When you set a reminder, it:
Appears next to the Gmail thread (turns red if it’s overdue).
Also shows up in the extension’s popup overview, where you can see all your active reminders at a glance.
No extra emails are sent it’s all kept lightweight inside Gmail. Thanks for pointing this out!
