You're Loading Fonts Wrong (and It's Crippling Your Performance)
Key topics
The debate rages on: are custom fonts crippling website performance, or are they essential for branding and legibility? Some commenters argue that using system fonts is the way to go, with one throwaway user grumbling that websites should "stop trying to control what the user sees" and let users optimize legibility with their own font choices. Others counter that custom fonts are necessary for a consistent user experience, with nicbou pointing out that most users aren't as tech-savvy as the average commenter. The discussion takes a sharp turn when pickledoyster redirects the blame, suggesting that website owners should tackle the bigger issue of bloated trackers and analytics scripts before worrying about font loading.

I have tried some of the accessibility oriented easy to read fonts that are supposed to help with dyslexia but it's hard to justify that megabyte when I am also balancing accessibility of slow computers on bad networks
You want to use system-ui to select the platform's UI font, which is San Francisco on Apple devices. Availability is about 95% [1].
