1 replyMaybe something mildly amusing about the fact that every president says they’re going to cure cancer (when cancer problably isn’t curable in the classic sense of the word), so maybe some extremism in the other direction is called for.

1 replyWe are closer now than we've ever been. Just because some people think cancer isn't curable doesn't mean we shouldn't try. Especially because of all the cancers we've cured.

1 replyI mean we absolutely should spend money on research. Weve made enormous strides in the past 100 years. I was making a pretty narrow joke/observation about political cynicism
. Regardless of whether Cancer is a disease that is curable it is a constellation of conditions that are treatable/curable.

It is definitely true that a lot of politicians like to "Appeal to Hopelessness" saying things like "We may as well." Especially regarding healthcare and climate change... Unfortunately the Overton window has been moved over so far, such humor is almost impossible to differentiate from serious statements.
