Oops. Made an assumption based on the fact that almost every other major media seems to be owned by men.
Surrender makes sense, as this state of affairs is not an anomaly and not the choice of one man, but the repeated choice of the American public. This was chosen by the public and there is no reason to think they will stop choosing it.
