Completely agree with the article's means - yes if you're going to receive money from the public for your land, you can't also retain privacy as a recipient, as that's corrupt - but I disagree with their ends.

Ultimately all central registration is about central control. It's the dream of every USSR-loving statist that all data about every person and place be available to the state, so they can narcissistically govern everyone else's lives as if they were characters in a computer game.

Sometimes what's disparaged as "inefficiency" by the short sighted is actually just insurance.
