For me, one of the biggest surprises was the fact that advantage/disadvantage does not mean two sets of dice being rolled and taking the higher/lower variation. In the rules under passive percepetion it states that you simply get a + or - 5 to the roll.
Are there any other mechanics like this in newer editions?
