Of interest in case anyone is wondering about different Islamic veils, https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/24118241. The burqa, if forced on someone (like Afghani women), is not an expression of that person’s choice in how to exercise their faith, and so in that case I’d agree with the author in the OP.
I am in favor of letting people decide how to express their faith (if it doesn’t harm another), though I’d prefer if people would generally become less religious.
