Progressives are generally concerned more with inequity in all its forms as it concerns the global south, American poor are not a consideration unless they’re some kind race or gender minority. There’s also vested interest in ensuring America doesn’t develop its own homegrown workforce because then you can’t incentivize the need for immigration.
