They have already succeeded. The economy of the USA has now been changed to be less "free market" and more authoritarian --- like theirs.
Only worse. Instead of a central committee steering the economy, we have a central person deciding who you can trade with and how much it will cost. Government interference has been normalized. There is nothing "free market" about it.
In a struggle of ideology, this is a win for them, not us.
