I was frustrated with the exact search functionality in the YC directory, so I made a better one that allows you to paste in a description of any length and get the closest companies to that description using BM25. I also did some analysis of trends, and found some interesting historical trends (the shift from B2C focus to B2B in YC) and some not so surprising ones (astronomical increase in the usage of the keyword 'AI' in accepted companies). The data is all in the website and fully toggleable by Year, batch and category for those data nerds interested to explore :p Open to feedback on other types of interesting analyses you would like to see!
