Feral pigs are an ecological disaster. They are smart enough to learn to avoid most direct methods of baited poison, they avoid behaviours which make hunting easier. they breet prolifically, and they destroy the landscape.
Yes, modern farming destroys the landscape. Feral animals are much, much worse.
Perhaps my Australian bias showed. Feral pigs are comprehensively wrecking Australia, human wreckage not withstanding.
