It Appears Meta May Be Ready to Put the Metaverse Out of Its Misery

I suspect the greater intent was a sort of morality car wash for their branding.

The new name is general enough they're not tied to any specific business model despite the etymology of the rename.

For real though, Meta flushing all that money down the drain is keeping VR hanging on by a thread. I'm not sure if it survives if they pull back to focus on Google Glass 2 or whatever.
