Last time I checked India was still ramping up it's coal plants during the day to meet demand during sunlight hours.
Presumably this development means they reached a point when they run consistently, which is more efficient even before you account for the peak demand being replaced by solar.

This is...a lot of power to time shift.

It appears they are adding ~20GW of solar every six months with ~128GW of total capacity, and have just a bit over 200GW of coal generation capacity as of this comment. China is installing ~500GW of solar a year as of this comment (for context).
