Hmm. Crypto wealth in a typical form. Funny how the poker playing crypto savvy engineer is such a common archetype. I can personally imagine some of my friends who would perhaps be exactly this if they had 150mm instead of, I don't know 1.5 or 15 or whatever a well off smart software engineer has in their bank these days.

I don't think he's after marketing though, I think he's having his little poker power/money fantasy. Nothing I would look up to but more power to him I guess. Sounds like he's fairly decent at poker but still getting reamed by the top players, which is the part that I find a bit sad and desperate, since he's sort of trading humiliation for clout despite having, well, adequate crypto wealth. I definitely think the top players he is seeking out do see him as a fool.
