This is one of the major reasons why I left the US after a few years of my own accord; green card / citizenship wait times for Indians are nonsensical if you are not provably extraordinary or haven't married a US citizen. I could be wrong, but it seems that the author is still young, doesn't have many dependents or responsibilities. Their mental state would've been a lot worse, and they'd have been a lot more vulnerable to workplace manipulation if they had children and a mortgage to think about. Even if they had a good manager today, there's no guarantee they'd keep having a good manager a few years from now before their green card arrives.
I found it a cruel joke that a country that prides itself on "freedom" and "liberty" is perfectly happy keeping people, directly or indirectly, in circumstances where they do not actually have freedom and liberty for decades. The crueler joke is that a lot of said people find this arrangement perfectly acceptable even when they have other options.
I don't even want to comment on these two who made you use your LI for sales. LI is professional network but anything agressive that can spoil your profile is something you don't want to do. I doubt they did it for 20 yrs.
There were places I worked where I didn't show in my LI that I am working there, you can do for all kinds of reasons, sometimes you don't want to be pestered by sales people for example.
I don’t have to see later. Both asks weren’t just fair, they were fundamentally correct.
Do not use your personal accounts for anything when doing professional work. Do not re-use accounts being used for customer-facing activities.
His concerns were reasonable, making it a discussion was not -- unfortunately.
