Now, looking back, all this amazement around generated stuff was probably misplaced. It is like a tribal child on an uncontacted island accepting plastic toys from outsiders and getting amazed by the quality of the toys, without realizing that the toys would take over the island soon.
Speaking of toys - I used to make all my toys as a kid - chess pieces, chess board, playing cards, bow & arrows, wind-mills, cart-toys, bouncy balls... We didn't have any shops around. I miss the randomness, imperfection and freedom.
Feels like an entry drug to Mandelbulb3D.
