Not surprising as hearing aids are (usually?) considered medical devices and billed accordingly. Hard to get widespread acceptance if they’re several times more expensive than glasses, and seen as somewhat optional for public insurance. I’m not aware of much hearing coverage in N American companies. Perhaps when $100 equivalent earphones are available - simple amplification would help, and a few equalizer bands would be even better.
