China didn't just "find" this.
They knew this and planned for this trade war scenario at least a decade ago. The only thing new here is they have finally decided it is time to apply their strategic plan.
In other words, the Chinese think strategically and long term. And the real trade war has just now started. China has the ability to crash our economy and they now appear willing to prove it.
The USA only thinks about the next social media post. If it were otherwise, we wouldn't be in an unwinnable trade war.
Trump makes it up as he goes along and as a result he has been caught off guard and boxed into a corner. His next move will likely be to surrender and declare victory --- which will suit China just fine.
EDIT: Trump just posted that the 100% tariffs he threatened last Friday were "unsustainable" --- in other words, he surrendered and admitted it was a hollow threat. This is sure to impress China and strengthen our position in any further negotiations.
