The problem for foreigners trying to invest in China is that you can never really own something there. Chinese businessmen will accept the money, but a piece of paper saying “a foreigner owns this” isn’t enforceable in a dispute.
The US needs to be on this same footing with China. Why should the US give China a stronger claim to land surrounding our military bases than they would allow US citizens to have to a remote rice paddy?
