The Catholic church is struggling at the same point of reckoning as U.S. Republicans: since 2001, humanity has finally stepped beyond these institution's insipid hypocritical dogmas and arcane privilege and power structures. But the ideological funicular keeps chugging along on the "mystery" of buried traction and "P.T. Barnum's dictum" that there's a sucker born every minute... The cable is about to snap due to wear and send the carriage careening into oblivion, but isn't the city pretty from the carriage?! Wheee!
