I own a BMW i4 since 2022, exactly the same model and year as the author claims he is suffering those issues on. In addition, since 2022, I have owned other 3 BMWs with the same features as that i4 (EV / PHEVs): profiles, digital key, rear view camera, lights, etc.
It would be naive to claim that as I have not suffered the same issue as the article writer, that issue is non-existing. However the author is claiming so many issues at the same time, that I have never ever experienced that I start to doubt the truth of the article:
* Unable to unlock the car via digital key --> Never experienced this in 3 years and none of my 4 BMWs. On 3 different iPHones I've owned. Digital key works beautifully to the point I have not used the keyfob in years.
* Profile issues --> Never had any issue with guest profile, nor with my wife profiles. However by design, phone pairing is shared in a vehicle with all the stored profiles. Makes sense to me, so when I drive also my wifes phone is paired with the car in case she joins.
* Camera issues --> No issues whatsoever, however it's true that it could improve in low-light conditions (I have surround view camera setup), and it actually has improved in the following generation of cars (SP21).
* Walk home lights --> Never experienced this issue in more than 3 years and my 4 BMWs owned during this period. I love those lights, including the puddle lights. And they light on the moment I'm around 5m or further from the car. 100% of the time.
* OTA --> Also never had an issue, except 2024 updates being delayed for the i4 compared to other models. But the i4 is getting the 2025 updates just on time.
