Debatable how much is his fault and why he got so much leeway to not deliver, but he’s basically the face of Apple’s biggest embarrassment in recent time and a big chunk of their stock tumble.
It’s even more telling because Apple did deliver a lot of the foundation features as API, both last year and this year in iOS 26, that one could scuttle together to make the original promise of Apple Intelligence. But ultimately the product side of it failed and it falls pretty strongly in his court.
I hope this is an Apple Maps moment though. That too was embarrassing and led to a leadership change, and it’s now (in my area) the best maps app.
