Study Reveals How Tattoo Ink Affects the Immune System

I wonder how that could play out for people either autoimmune disorders. Do tattoos reduce the likelihood of acquiring an autoimmune disorder, or could getting a tattoo afterwards reduce the severity, or could it be negatively correlated and make it worse?

The mice vaccination study mentions that they were testing vaccinations at the location of the tattoo. They did not test whether it affected efficacy elsewhere in the body. It also mentions that response to the flu vaccine was enhanced rather than diminished when injected into a tattoo.

This is an extremely limited study for a variety of reasons, and shouldn't be used to whip up a media panic about tattoos.
