Hey all, feel like there are so much information to consume and catchup with the world rn. So curious how do more experienced people here do to actually store and make use of information in this modern era? What do you use to consolidate, store and easily access them when necessary?

I'm looking into AI second brain options that allow me to ask it to retrieve info when needed. I've been trying tools like notebooklm, tana, saner, but always open to learning more about your methods and recs. Thanks

I developed Contextualise (https://contextualise.dev/) which is based on the topic maps paradigm. It has been my workhorse (personal) knowledge management tool for years now.

I just use a plain old notebook or my tablet which I pretty much only use as a notebook. While there may be a great deal of information to consume, only a tiny portion will be of use to any single person.

I store it inside my fancy note taking application (Joplin), tagged and organized hierarchically, synced and E2EE'd across my devices.

I use Obsidian, which is obviously not AI, but is fantastic for saving notes for later, and it’s searchable.

Primarily in my brain. Secondarily on a private (non-internet-connected) wiki and paper notebooks. Links to websites are kept in a private bookmark server.

Logseq to a local directory that I synchronize with my phone using SyncThing. It works great, and the fact that it's like a personal wiki feels right to me.

That said, if I were self hosting on a server, I'd probably host a personal MediaWiki instance.
