Administration Begins Layoffs of Federal Workers Amid Government Shutdown

I fired people when I was in the gov't. And I gave tough reviews. And I sent NCIS to their homes to collect their CAC cards. There are some problems, but I think much of those problems also exist in industry. The problem I was frustrated with was it was sometimes sometimes hard to select the best qualified candidate for a position. An example: I had a candidate who wanted to come to my place because his girlfriend lived there. He was 100-percent unqualified. I was not able to reject him, and we needed to disqualify the entire job posting to avoid hiring him. It was also frustrating to "have to spend some residual money" at the end of the year. I would have had no problem returning the money to the treasury as opposed to "thinking of something creative" to spend the money. I was proud to work in the gov't and retire, but it was harder work than what I ever experienced in industry.
