It would be against nature to say anyone could not simply use the openly available intelligence tools to observe anyone for any reason at any time (that does not violate a private barrier of some kind.)

Isn't personal privacy the overriding objective of GDPR?
Isn't the effective result of the proposed CSAM to eliminate personal privacy?
Over time, laws tend to approach the point where everyone is a criminal.
You will never live in a world where everyone minds their own business. Never. And the government is not the only eavesdropper. Idiot. The commercial market that sells to the gov or anyone else like a fish market. Those new era private interest groups consuming your data, whether Cambridge Analytics or Mossad or whoever want a stake in your ass.
A culture of vigilance, competence, and distributed sensibilities are your only hope.
Stop acting like a lame duck and see your life of obeyed self privilege as the lie.
