So "shortlist" non-existing SMRs and then when it comes to final investment decision in 2029 say they were too expensive and blame Rolls Royce and GE for not delivering competitive products.
The other option would be large scale reactors, which they have held a tender for with EDF, Westinghouse and KHNP (which dropped out after the settlement with Westinghouse).
That tender suddenly disappeared from the collective consciousness, likely due to the tens of billions in subsidies required per reactors making it politically unfeasible.
